Connect a Computer to the MiFi 2000 and Connect to Sprint PCS Network Notes:

The device must be programmed and activated with the Mobile Director Number (MDN) prior to the steps below.
If necessary, see Programming - Novatel MiFi 2200.
Make sure the battery has been installed and the device has been charged.
Press the power button
The MiFi 2200 comes on and the power button LED lights up.
A solid green LED indicates the device is in service and ready to connect.
Tell the customer to use their normal WiFi manager on their computer to connect to the MiFi 2200.
Steps may vary slightly with different WiFi managers.
On the customer's computer, open WiFi Manager.
Most computer’s have a built in WiFi connection manager such as Windows®️ Zero Config or Intel PROSet®️ (or Airport on Mac).

Windows XP:
Click Start.
Click Connect To.
Click Wireless Network Connection.
Wireless Network Connection Status Pop-up appears.
Click View Wireless Networks.
Select the SSID with MiFi in the title.
If your PC uses another utility, a message will state that Windows cannot configure the wireless connection.
Refer customer to their PC documentation.

Windows Vista:
Click Start.
Click Connect To.
Click Show Wireless.
Available wireless networks are displayed.
Select the SSID with MiFi in the title.
If your PC uses another utility, a message will state that Windows cannot configure the wireless connection.
Refer customer to their PC documentation.

MAC OS 10.4+:
Double-click the wireless network Airport icon.
AirPort should be turned on.
After searching is complete select the SSID with MiFi in the title.
Select the Sprint MiFi 2200 entry.
To connect to the MiFi 2200 you must first find the MiFi 2200 SSID.
The default SSID will contain the words Sprint MiFi 2200 in the title.
The last 3 characters are the last the digits of the units MAC address, printed on the label under the battery.
If the MiFi entry is not shown, wait a minute and refresh the list of available networks.
Click Connect.
If the customer has previously created a security Network Key, the customer’s WiFi manager will prompt for the Network Key.
Connection is now complete.
The customer may now browse the internet.



Access MiFi 2200 Configuration Web Page
Connect a computer to the MiFi 2200.
If necessary see Connect a Computer to the MiFi 2000 and Connect to Sprint PCS Network.
In the address window of the customer’s internet browser, type http://192.168.1.1.
Alternately, the configuration page can be reached by typing http://admin.mifi or http://mifi.admin.
If this is the first time they have entered the browser interface or if they have used the master reset button, the Initial Setup Wizard will launch.
The Setup Wizard can be canceled or completed.
Type the Administrative password in the Login password box in the upper right corner.
The default password is admin, if the customer has not changed it.
Click Login.


Configure Device for Sprint Data Link
Note: This process is only for the Sprint Data Link support groups.
The Data Link credentials can be set manually for permanent storage on the device
Data Link Credentials and MSL must be provided by your IT department
Navigate to the WWAN > Diagnostics page.
Press Manual Program Device.
Access the pop-up with MSL.
Enter the credentials supplied.
The device will reset and reconnect to the Data Link VPN service.


Connect MiFi 2200 to a Computer With a USB Cable
The MiFi 2200 does not ship with a USB cable.
When tethered via USB, the MiFi 2200 will not function as a hotspot.
In this mode the MiFi 2200 can be utilized as a Sprint Broadband USB modem only.
Customers who wish to use the MiFi 2200 as a USB modem may purchase a USB cable from the Sprint store.
Note:
The device is not currently supported by Sprint Smart View (SSV).
The device is set up to auto install the Novatel drivers required when tethered via USB to Mac or Windows based laptop computers.
