First-time Activation Programming Steps:Hands Free - OMA/DM
If the customer has not turned on the phone, request that they leave the phone Off until advised.
If the customer has already turned the phone on: Specialist can go to One Touch Programming Steps.
Click Options > Mobile Network > Menu Key > Update Data Profile via the phone.
Check provisioning by searching the Switch Control Query Tables in CSM:
From the Profile tab, click Page Options.
Click Switch Activities.
Click Query Switch Tables.
The Switch Query Tables screen appears.
Click Get.
Review most recent transaction.
If Complete Success displays in the Switch Query Tables, go to next step.
If Complete Error displays in the Switch Query Tables, in CSM refresh the appropriate systems that failed then go back to step 3, Check provisioning.
Ask the customer to turn On the phone.
Once powered on, press Applications button.
Select Manage Connections icon.
Make sure Mobile Network is On.
If it is ona check mark will be displayed to the left of Mobile Network and Sprint will display on the right.
If no check mark is displayed:
Scroll to Mobile Network.
Press the trackpad.
A check mark will appear next to Mobile Network and the services will turn on.
Once fully turned on, the upper right of the screen by the coverage bars will say 1XEV.
If not, go to One Touch Programming Steps.
Hands Free Activation will start.
If HFA has completed successfully but the Browser Icon has not appeared, do the following.
Make sure the phone has a BlackBerry data plan.
Check Query Switch Tables to make sure provisioning went through.
Make sure none of the icons are hidden.
Perform an Update Data Profile: Options > Mobile Network > Menu Key > Update Profile.
From the Host Routing Table, perform a Register Now.
Go to Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table
Press Applications button.
Choose Register Now.
Manual Programming is not to be done on this phone.
If a phone is manually programmed, Data Services will not provision
For phones that have been manually programmed, a ##RTN Talk Button will need to be performed so Hands Free Activation can restart.
One Touch Programming Steps:To be used only if First-time Activation Programming fails.
The BlackBerry Curve 8530 is OMA/DM capable, which eliminates the need for manual programming.
If One Touch Programming needs to be performed, follow the steps below.
Insert battery.
If the phone is not turned on, press the Power Key located on the front panel of the phone to turn it on.
Once powered on, press Applications button.
Select Manage Connections icon.
Make sure Mobile Network is On.
A check mark will be displayed to the left of Mobile Network if it is on.
If no check mark is displayed:
Scroll to Mobile Network.
Press the trackpad.
A check mark will appear next to Mobile Network and the services will turn on.
Once fully turned on, the upper right of the screen by the coverage bars will say 1XEV.
From the Main screen, press Applications button..
Scroll to Options icon.
Press the trackpad.
Scroll to Mobile Network.
Press the trackpad.
Press Applications button.
Scroll up to Update Profile.
Press the trackpad.
The phone will start Provisioning.
When Provisioning completes, Press OK.
If any other error is displayed, follow the correct trouble shooting steps for that error.
Performing a ##RTN Talk Button
Press ## key twice.
Same button as letter Q.
Hold down the ALT Key and type RTN.
Press green Talk button.

Programming Info screen will appear.

In sView or CSM, from the Manual Device Programming drop-down list gather MSL information.

In the Master Subsidy Lock field of the Programming Info screen enter MSL Information, then press trackpad.
.
A Pop-Up Message will appear: Restoring the Device to Factory Default will Erase all the Personal Information.
Highlight Continue, then press trackpad.
The BlackBerry will start to wipe the phone.
The screen will be white with a status track bar showing the status of the device wipe
When the wipe is complete, the phone will reset.
This may take a couple minutes.
Once the handset powers on, turn on Mobile Network.
Hands Free Activation will start again.
